History of the Hotel

 
The history of the Hotel Bad Schachen on the shores of Lake Constance began more than 250 years ago with the transformation of a mineral spring into an official spa. Today the location close to Lindau on the banks of the lake continues to draw people from far and wide, fascinated by beautiful views of the Alps.
 
Once known as the White Swan Guesthouse, today's Hotel Bad Schachen asserts its claim as the oldest establishment on the banks of Lake Constance. To its guests and friends from Germany and abroad it presents itself as the epitome of an exclusive, international hotel with a very special atmosphere.
 
The three-winged building that is the present-day Hotel Bad Schachen - with its characteristic tower, its lakeside terrace and its own mooring jetty - was built at the start of the 20^th century. The establishment continues to exude the grandness and charm of the Belle Epoque.
 
Embedded in its own picturesque park, the lakeside open-air pool, built in the immediate vicinity of the hotel in 1924, is an inviting spot for bathers. This Jugendstil jewel was designed by the world famous architect Max Littmann and infuses the bathing experience with the ambience of a bygone era.
 
The latest addition to the hotel's facilities, the Schachen Bad & SPA complex, blends harmoniously with the surroundings and the hotel's other holiday and leisure amenities. Considerable effort went into ensuring that the new complex did not jar with the traditions and values of the hotel.
