The family
The roots of the Schielin family of hoteliers go back to 26
th June 1752, when the winemaker Johann Georg Schielin bought the "Baad zu Schachen" and a mineral spring at auction. Five years later, in an expansion of his wine and bathing enterprises, he bought the rights to run the White Swan as a tavern.
For seven generations the Schielins have been managing the fortunes of the property and developing it as an establishment dedicated to traditional hospitality. The hotel owes its character today to Robert Schielin, who took over the business in 1979 and invested passion and entrepreneurial spirit as he went about burnishing the hotel to its present illustrious state. In 2005 the reins of the business went to Isolde Schielin. With her at the helm, and supported by daughters Claudia and Corinna, she represents the perpetuation of this family tradition. Today the Hotel Bad Schachen is a house of considerable renown providing its guests with international standards of service.
Over the centuries the family has repeatedly displayed a foresight for the future of the hotel business, preserving the essence of the hotel and cultivating an atmosphere that has evolved steadily and stylishly. Successive owners contributed to the growth of Bad Schachen by adding spacious annexes and sensitively designed extensions.
The most recent addition to the structure of the hotel bears the unmistakeable stamp of its designer and is also closely linked to the history of the location as a former spa. The start of the 2008 season saw the opening of the luxurious
Schachen Bad & SPA complex in the Hotel Bad Schachen. In spring 2009 the complex was further extended by spacious sauna facilities.
The Schielin family has owned and managed the
Hotel Bad Schachen for over 250 years and extends a warm welcome to all its guests on the Bavarian shores of Lake Constance.
